For most of her history Margate's Lucy the Elephant was the world's largest elephant building but that changed in 1997 when the Elephant Tower opened in the Chatuchak District of Bangkok, Thailand. The cubist-like take on a pachyderm is 32 stories high and 560 feet long. It houses luxury condominimums, office space and a shopping mall and quickly became a national landmark that references the elephants and symbols of elephants have been an intregal part of Thai culture, industry and religion for centuries.
